Computer Courses
Our computer course offerings are structured for both work and play. If you need to improve your computing skills for the office we have classes that provide both introductory and advanced concepts that will improve your productivity or your marketability in the job place. We also offer career based programs such as Cisco and A+ Certifications. We also offer basic computing skills so that you can learn the ins and outs of email or the internet.
Cisco Networking
301 – Cisco Certification Program CCNA 1
Networking for home and Small Business The Cisco Networking Academy provides an interactive course including hands on labs using the latest Cisco equipment, to prepare individuals for networking careers in virtually every type of industry. Students will start to prepare for CCENT, which is the Cisco Exam ICND1. Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician is the entry level and the most popular Cisco certification. Getting CCENT certified ensures that the candidate has enough knowledge to plan, configure, and operate simple WAN and switched LAN networks using Cisco products.

302 – Cisco Certification Program CCNA 2
Learn Routers and Routing Basics in the second of four CCNA courses leading to the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification. CCNA2 focuses on initial router configuration, routing protocol configuration, TCP/IP and access control lists. Prerequisite for this course is successful completion of CCNA1.

323 – Cisco Networking CCNA 3
Introducing Routing and Switching in the Enterprise v4.0, this course familiarizes students with the equipment applications and protocols installed in enterprise networks, with a focus on switched networks, IP Telephony requirements, and security. It also introduces advanced routing protocols such as Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Protocol. hands-on exercises, including configuration, installation, and troubleshooting, reinforce student learning. Prerequisites: Working at a small to medium business or ISP (Cisco 2).

324 – Cisco Networking CCNA 4
Designing and Supporting Computer Networks - Prerequisites - Cisco 1, 2, and 3
The goal of this course is to assist you in developing the skills necessary to design small enterprise LANs and WANs. The course provides an introduction to collecting customer requirements, translating those requirements into equipment and protocol needs, and creating a network topology which addresses the needs of the customer. It will also familiarize you with how to create and implement a design proposal for a customer. This course prepares you with the skills training required for entry-level pre-sales support and entry-level network design jobs.

325 – A+ Certification
This course provides students with the skills needed to obtain entry level computer jobs, such as computer bench technicians, remote computer support, help desk technicians, and entry level presales support providers. It incorporates a hands-on introduction to building a computer. Labs include PC and laptop issues, network connectivity, wireless connectivity, operating system installation, and file and print sharing. This course prepares students to take the Comptia A+ Certification Exam. Exam is offered at TriCounty. (Optional and additional fees apply.)

307 – Introduction to Microsoft Word
Instruction is designed to make the word processing experience less confusing through the graphical multitasking capabilities of Microsoft Word. The course is organized for handson learning, and will demonstrate how computers and integrated software improve personal and professional productivity. Knowledge of the keyboard is essential.

312 – Advanced Microsoft Word
This course is for students who are familiar with the basics of Microsoft Word and need to learn how to create more complex documents. In this course, you will learn how to use Word to create, manage, revise, collaborate and distribute long documents, forms, and Web pages.

318 – Advanced Microsoft Excel
Become an Excel expert! Learn various advanced techniques for analyzing and manipulating data in Excel. Topics include creating and running a Macro, working with multiple spreadsheets, advanced formula construction, and customization. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Excel.

661 – Microsoft Office Specialist Certification - Excel 2003
This course will prepare candidates for the Microsoft Excel Specialist Certification Exam. Knowledge of Excel basics is required. Topics covered will be advanced formulas, lookups, data tables, Pivot Tables and charts, using analytical options, macros, and creating simple Web pages with spreadsheets. Practice computer certification exams will be given each week to assist candidates in passing the certification exam. Certification exam is optional, and a separate fee will be collected at time of exam.

311 – Learning PowerPoint
This class is designed for students who are interested in learning the fundamentals needed to create and modify basic Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. Topics covered will include adding clipart to your presentation, creating charts and tables, and presentation delivery.

320 – Introduction to Access
Learn the basics about this powerful database application. The class will cover the skills necessary to get started creating databases and working with data, creating queries, forms, and reports, and integrating Access with other applications.

Microsoft Office SharePoint is a web-based tool that helps people in a company, group or organization share information and collaborate more effectively. The course is designed to take you from fundementals to power user. At the end of this course you will have a thorough understanding of what SharePoint is and how it integrates with Microsoft Office. We will work with document libraries, calendars, task lists, discussion forums, surveys, wikis blogs and other features of SharePoint.

QuickBooks is a comprehensive tool for managing small business finances more effectively. This course will take students with no prior knowledge of computerized accounting to a stage where they can confidently perform elementary daytoday operations with QuickBooks. 304 – Beginner’s Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is the program of choice for graphics professionals. This course teaches essential concepts and provides a working knowledge of Photoshop for those wanting to learn how to create graphic images, manipulate photos, etc. In this Photoshop fundamentals course, you will learn digital imaging, resolution types, color correction tools, layers, selection techniques, and the history palette.

465- Intro to the Digital Darkroom
Do you want to get the most out of your digital camera and the pictures it takes? This course will take you through the basics of manipulating your images for printing at home, at your favorite lab, or even for posting on the Web. Learn the secrets to making your images have a more professional look by simple cropping, color correction, contrast adjustments, sharpening, and beyond. Learn about some of the software that is available to you to manage your files on the computer and to edit your images. If you enjoy taking digital pictures, you really need to have a basic understanding of this area of digital photography.

This course is designed to expose the student to the principles of microbased Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). Students will learn about and develop competency in the operation of the 2dimensional CAD system through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on application.

Computing Skills
306 – Introduction to Computers
This course is designed for those who have little or no experience using a computer. Want to learn how to write a letter, "surf" the Internet, or send an email? This course is for you. You will learn the basic skills necessary to operate a personal computer using the Windows XP operating system. The basics of Microsoft Word will be introduced along with browsing on the Internet using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Web browser. Email skills will also be introduced. Knowledge of the keyboard is recommended. Tuition includes handouts and/or book.

This class is designed for students with basic knowledge and experience in personal computing and the World Wide Web. Students will learn the basics of creating Web pages using HTML. Topics covered will include inserting images and links, customizable tables and forms, and cascading style sheets.
